Sherlock tops best TV poll

Sleuth series Sherlock has been voted the top TV show of 2012. The drama, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, beat US thriller Homeland in the Radio Times poll.

Twenty Twelve, the mockumentary following the team behind the 2012 Olympics, is third, followed by Armando Iannucci’s political satire The Thick Of It.

The top ten, voted for by writers and critics, was completed by student drama Fresh Meat, Danish series Borgen, The Great British Bake Off, Downton Abbey, The Bridge and Sky show Girls. editor Tim Glanfield said: “Sherlock delivered the TV event of the year with three perfect episodes.”
