Have your say

Being under 18 can be problematic for a lot of musicians, ruling out the possibility of some festival slots and gigs.

However, Skjør (pronounced “sure”) have managed to turn their youth to their advantage. Not only have they been offered a slot on the latest Hit The Road tour – an initiative which launched the careers of Kloe, Man Of Moon and Model Aeroplanes – but they have also just been awarded a Young Scot Nurture grant. The money will be used by the band to record a new single and video, which is scheduled for release in October. In the meantime, there are plenty of opportunities to hear Skjør’s dreamy brand of atmospheric acoustic pop, inspired by singer Louise McCraw’s time spent in Norway, in a live setting.

The band play Leith Dockers Club on 18 August, Glasgow’s Hug & Pint on 19 August and Kilwinning’s YUC on 20 August. A young team well worth looking out for.
