The £2.5 million Lambo? No bull

THE Geneva Motor Show kicked off on Tuesday, with the usual mix of madder-than-a-full-moon-dog concept cars, shiny new mainstream models and expensive eye candy nobody we know can afford.

Firmly in the latter camp is the loopy Lamborghini Veneno, which costs £2.5 million and looks like Batman’s idea of a Le Mans racer. It’s based on the underpinnings of the Lamborghini Aventador, which is itself no shrinking violet, but clearly not hardcore enough for the three lucky – and loaded – people who will get to own a Veneno.

The Aventador’s 6.5-litre V12 has been tweaked to produce 750bhp. Top speed is 220mph and, although there’s no word on the 0-60 time, I’ll be cancelling my order if it’s any more than three seconds.

Veneno, by the way, is the name of a bull who, in 1914, gored matador Jose Sanchez Rodriguez to death within seconds of entering the arena. Good bull. Nice bull.
