My first car: Ziggy Campbell, Honda Civic Estate Aerodeck

I BOUGHT my first car around Christmas time last year. A 1999 Honda Civic Estate Aerodeck in dark metallic green.

With only 63,000 miles on the clock it seemed a bargain for the asking price and it was the perfect size for my band, FOUND, and our gear. Only thing was, nobody in the band could drive. After buying the Honda I took the plunge and booked myself in for two weeks of intensive driving lessons, at the end of which I’d sit my test. Immediately after my test date we were due to go on tour to promote our album Factorycraft. Annoyingly, we had one of the worst winters on record so my lessons were disrupted and my test postponed. Nonetheless, we packed up the Honda, slapped on the L plates and went off on tour, inexperienced little me driving around all the major cities in the UK – and, thankfully, a more qualified driver pal of FOUND watching over me and doing the motorways. It was a baptism of fire, and nerve-wracking at that, but I’m sure it all helped me pass my test. I still love driving the Aerodeck, although being the designated driver in the band is beginning to wear thin. «
