Managing director Jillian Shedden and British Touring Car champion husband Gordon Shedden were given the President’s Award for outstanding contribution to Scottish motorsport at a glitzy bash at the Dalmahoy Marriott Country Club.

It capped a fine year for Shedden, also a marketing director at the Fife circuit, after claiming his second BTCC crown with the Honda Yuasa Racing Team. But wife Jillian remains the unsung hero of the pair – and she revealed her first job at Knockhill was picking up litter to earn pocket money when she was 12-years-old.

She said: “My dad bought Knockhill when I was eight but I started earning £5 pocket money when I was 12 for picking up litter, selling programmes, tickets and even building tyre walls!

“It was 20 years ago when I took on my current job and the most satisfying aspect is the atmosphere created at the track.

“We always try and deliver the best action and experience on track and it’s great to have my other half on the top step of the Dunlop BTCC championship again for the second time. We have both enjoyed motor sport, it is certainly in our blood, but we also love our time away from the Circuit and the circuits all over the UK. It’s a very busy schedule for the two of us, but we both love it.”
