Female-friendly title for Farmer

As people across the country mark International Women's Day, a Scottish vehicle repair centre has been recognised for its work to improving service for female motorists.

Farmer Autocare has become the first auto repair group in Scotland to be approved as female-friendly by the UK’s only motoring club for women – FOXY Lady Drivers Club.

The Farmer Autocare group was set up by Kwik Fit founder Sir Tom Farmer and has 17 centres across the Central Belt and Perthshire.

Sir Tom said: “Whilst the number of women drivers has increased dramatically since I started my first auto repair service in 1964, they are increasingly the ones shopping for everyday garage services, within a tight family budget. We do particularly well here because we offer the personal service they appreciate as well as gimmick-free low prices. By being part of the FOXY scheme women know they can trust us to help them run safer cars, not just save money.”

To become FOXY “Lady Approved” Farmer Autocare centres have all signed a promise to “never overcharge, patronise or sell women anything they don’t need”. To maintain their place on the FOXY network their customers are required to provide feedback as part of this scheme’s monitoring process.

FOXY founder Steph Savill said: “Sir Tom is famous for his ethical business acumen so we’re delighted to work with him and Farmer Autocare centres in Scotland. Together we can make a big difference to safety standards by encouraging women to go to reputable garages and get their tyres checked more often.”
