Advertising Feature: The best of Benz coming to the capital

Mercedes-Benz of Edinburgh, part of the Eastern Western Motor Group, are holding a Performance Vehicle Week from 22 to 27 October 2011. It will offer customers a rare opportunity to view some of the high performance Mercedes-Benz cars that are usually only on display at Mercedes World in Surrey.

The first two days of this event are reserved for existing AMG owners who will be invited to attend on 22nd and 23rd, with the remaining Mercedes- Benz owners and prospective owners being invited to attend on 24th and 25th. The last two days of the event, 26th and 27th will be public open days where the friendly sales team at Mercedes-Benz of Edinburgh will be happy to welcome you to the dealership to view these exciting and rare cars.

The fleet is quite breathtaking, including a CLS500, an SLS AMG gullwing, an E500 Estate, an SL63 AMG Roadster, a CL65 AMG Coupé, an S65 AMG limousine, an E63 AMG saloon and an C63 AMG Estate. Mercedes-Benz is also trying to source a new C63 AMG Coupé.

So book the appropriate date in your diary to ensure that you don’t miss this exciting event. Doors will open at 9am and close at 6pm each day. To whet your appetite let’s take a closer look at the models that will be on show.

CLS500

The latest CLS500 comes with a radically different engine that is a very efficient 4.6-litre turbocharged V8 that cranks out a hefty 408bhp and 600Nm of torque. It still has the ability to deliver that trademark Mercedes-Benz acceleration and does so with a raft of fiendishly clever safety and control systems.

SLS AMG

There’s more to the SLS AMG than the amazing gullwing doors. Its race-engineered V8 engine and transmission, precision weight distribution and advanced materials, combine to make this the most comprehensively engineered Mercedes supercar ever made.

E500 Estate

The E500 is the flagship of the estate range and uses a 388bhp V8 powerplant and an advanced seven-speed automatic gearbox. The E500 estate has the power and poise to deliver exhilarating performance.

SL63 AMG

The refreshed E63 gets AMG’s new-generation twin-turbo 5.5-litre V8, that is 22 per cent more efficient than the outgoing naturally-aspirated 6.2-litre V8, and generates 65g/km of CO2 less too. It also has the option of a Performance Pack, which tweaks the boost pressure and raises peak power and torque to 549bhp and 590lb ft from the standard engine’s 518bhp and 516lb ft.

C63 AMG Estate

Drawing on more than 40 years motorsport experience, Mercedes-Benz and AMG have turned their attention to the C-Class Estate and the results are breathtaking. The C63 AMG Estate combines thoroughbred racing performance with all the comfort, practicality and safety you expect from a Mercedes-Benz C-Class. A hand-built AMG 6,208cc V8 provides power in abundance and handling is sensational.
