Loch Eriboll Half Marathon, May 15

You've only under a month to sign up for this race, but if you're feeling up to it, this is an excellent opportunity to explore the banks of the spectacular Loch Eriboll in the very northern reaches of Scotland's mainland.

One of the premium events for Scottish runners takes place at the end of May. Starting in Edinburgh and finishing on the city's outskirts in Musselburgh, the race follows a flat route - ideal for those seeking a personal best.

Benbecula Half Marathon, June 2

The Isle of Benbecula has a population of just 1300, but once a year this increase notably s as runners descend on the Outer Hebrides island. During the race, runners can observe the island's diverse flora and fauna - an excellent distraction!

Skye Half Marathon, June 10

Needing an excuse to visit the glorious Isle of Skye? Why not sign up for this rugged half marathon which starts in Portree and explores the north of the island, including a section along Loch Snizort?

Simmer Dim Half Marathon (Shetland), June 10

Alternatively, runners can visit the Shetland Islands on the same weekend and take part in the Simmer Dim Half Marathon. This route explores the southern reaches of Shetland, starting in Cunningsburgh to the south of Lerwick.

Muckle Toon Half Marathon, June 16

Experienced trail runners might want to consider taking part in the Muckle Toon Half Marathon in Langholm, which navigates steep, muddy and rock trails in Dumfries and Galloway.

Isle of Arran Half Marathon, July 1

The Isle of Arran half marathon welcomes runners of all standards to take on their route around the wonderful island paradise. Starting in Blackwaterfoot, this route explores 13.1 miles of the isle including the pleasant Shiskine Valley.

Coll Half Marathon, August 10

Get a summer of training under your belt and take part in the Coll Half Marathon. Once runners have completed their circuit of the island, they are invited to a ceilidh to let off some steam and enjoy a dram or two.

Highland Perthshire Half Marathon, September 2

Starting in Aberfeldy, this wonderful route takes in the grounds of Taymouth Castle, Glen Lyon and the River Tay itself. Consider booking a couple days in the area and unwinding after your efforts in the beautiful Pertshire countryside.
