Their side could go 23 points ahead at the top of the table, and there is light at the end of the tunnel after a decade-long wait for silverware.

The latest selection to take the club on stage further on their journey to the title was named by Steven Gerrard earlier – and fans raved about the strength in depth available, but queried the omission of Swiss striker Cedric Itten after his goal at Motherwell last week.

The boss made only one change from the team which drew 1-1 at Fir Park last week.

Kevin Duncan: “What’s Itten got to do to get a start but strong line up and hoping for 3 points.”

@Connor_Harcus_: “Itten robbed of a start once again.”

Mark McMinn: “Liked to have seen Itten get a start. Boy deserves one. Glad to see Roofe and Jack back. Defo give Jack some much needed game time. Amazing having those guys back infinitely makes our bench stronger.”

Del Coyle: “Would have dropped Kent and put Itten in from the start. Kent not kicked a ball in weeks maybe months tbh.”

@wbb___: “Justice for itten.”

@Lee_Hendry1872: “Jack and Roofe - feel bad for big Ced though, deserves a run.”

@Bairdric1: “Can’t remember a stronger bench in a long long time. Hope it’ll be utilised and managed well throughout the game when necessary!”

James Kirkham: “Judge a team on the strength of its bench and that’s some strength lol”

@JMK1872: “That bench, holy smokes.”

@HarrytheBosch: “That bench could win the World Cup. Awesome.”
