Stuart Wilson, a former captain for the event and the current GB&I men’s skipper, and Spencer Henderson have both been appointed to the committee, with Henderson also being announced as Lawrie’s vice captain for the match in September.

Ryder Cup Europe’s Edward Kitson will also sit on the committee, as will Anna Roscio, the Italian ladies’ golf team manager.

The quintet will choose all 12 participants - six boys and six girls - for the match at Blue Mound Golf & Country Club on 20-21 September following the disruption to the playing schedule caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The committee will take into account performances in all international events in the coming season, with close attention set to be paid to a selection of eight boys’ international events and nine girls’ tournaments.

These include the Women’s Amateur Championship at Kilmarnock (Barassie) on 7-12 June and the Amateur Championship at Nairn and Nairn Dunbar the following week.

“With the revised criteria for the Junior Ryder Cup team now established, I’m very excited to see Europe’s best junior golfers compete this year,” said Lawrie. “I’m delighted to be joined on the committee by Anna, Edward, Stuart and Spencer.

“There’s a lot of golf to be played between now and August and we expect competition to be fierce.”

Wilson is set to captain GB&I in the Walker Cup at Seminole in Florida in May.
