Ikea announce their Scotland-wide reopening date following restriction easing announcement

The furniture giant has revealed when they are reopening their doors to the public across Scotland, following the announcement of coronavirus lockdown easing by the Scottish Government.

Following the ‘stay at home’ rule, Ikea had to close its doors on Boxing Day across its stores in Scotland.

Since then, Scottish customers have only been able to purchase their Swedish homeware goods via the company’s click and collect service.

However, Ikea has recently announced that it will welcome the Scottish public back into their stores across Scotland on April 5.

The news comes after the First Minister Nicola Sturgeon set out Scotland’s routemap out of lockdown last week where she announced that all shops considered ‘non essential’ will be able to reopen from this date.

An Ikea Spokesperson said: “Life at home continues to be more important than ever and now that we have a clear date for homeware stores to reopen, we are working towards ensuring our stores are ready to safely welcome back customers.

“We look forward to reopening our stores in Edinburgh and Glasgow and our Aberdeen Order and Collection Point on April 5.

“In the meantime, customers can continue to shop with us online for home delivery or Click and Collect.”

For those who enjoy meatballs from the Swedish furniture store, you may need to wait a while longer as hospitality is only allowed to resume from 26 April.

There are two Ikea stores in Scotland, and one additional collection point:

Edinburgh - Costkea Way, Loanhead, Midlothian, EH20 9BY

Glasgow - 99 Kings Inch Drive, Glasgow, G51 4FB

Aberdeen - collection point only: Wellington Cir, Altens, Aberdeen AB12 3QW
