Watchdog slams hospital’s care of elderly patients

HEALTHCARE watchdogs have raised “significant concerns” about the care of vulnerable and elderly patients at one of Scotland’s main acute hospitals.

A report by Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS) on Dundee’s Ninewells Hospital has revealed that inspectors voiced concerns about patients’ privacy and dignity.

And they also saw evidence of patients having to wait “for a long time” on trolleys during an inspection in September. Sandy Watson, chairman of NHS Tayside board, said: “We would like to reassure our patients and their families that we have addressed the areas for improvement which have been highlighted by the inspectors.”
