University joins ‘see me’ mental health campaign

QUEEN Margaret is the latest Scottish university to work with the “see me” campaign to tackle the stigma surrounding mental health.

Vice-principal Professor Alan Gilloran formally signed the pledge with Suzie Vestri, campaign director of see me, and agreed an action plan including stress relief workshops for staff, visits from mental health organisations during freshers’ week and inviting guest speakers from see me.

Ms Vestri said: “Everyone has a part to play in tackling the stigma and discrimination surrounding mental ill-health. We welcome the commitment made by Queen Margaret University to unite with see me in our aim to remove the barrier that stands in the way of people talking about mental ill-health.

“One in four Scots will be affected by mental health problems at some point in their lives.”
