Two new cases of legionnaires’

DOCTORS are dealing with two fresh cases of legionnaires’ disease – one confirmed and one suspected.

The patients have been unwell for a period of time, are considered to be part of the original outbreak and are being treated outside the NHS Lothian area.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases to 50, while the number of suspected cases is 48. Overall, the total number of cases is 98. City council and Health and Safety Executive chiefs are continuing their investigations into the possible source of the outbreak.
