NHS bosses deny culture of bullying

SENIOR NHS bosses have denied a “bullying culture” that was uncovered in Lothian in the wake of its waiting times scandal was rife at other Scottish health boards.

NHS Lothian was found to have deliberately fiddled waiting lists last year, while a subsequent report found that a “undermining, intimidating, demeaning, threatening and hostile working environment” existed in areas of the service.

Bosses from other health boards, including Greater Glasgow and Clyde, denied a similar culture had permeated their organisations when quizzed by MSPs at Holyrood’s audit committee yesterday.

Labour shadow health secretary Jackie Baillie said: “Questions remain over Nicola Sturgeon’s involvement. What did she know, when did she know it and what questions did she ask, or not ask?”
