Mercy dash gran ‘stable’

A GRANDMOTHER with legionnaires’ disease who was airlifted to a hospital in England and placed in a medically- induced coma is in a stable condition, family members said yesterday.

Anne Bennett, 60, was flown more than 300 miles to Glenfield Hospital in Leicester on Tuesday for emergency blood oxygenation treatment after suffering multiple organ failure.

Her daughter Leanne Rae, 35, who yesterday travelled down to Leicester, said her mother had momentarily opened her eyes.

She told the News: “Her conditions is stable. They have taken her off the kidney machine she was connected to and her heart is working a bit more by itself.

“She’s not out of the woods yet but it’s a bit more positive than what it was. It will take them up to two weeks before they can say if she will make it or not.”
