Italy travel advice: Latest FCO guidance on holidays and flights - and if you have to quarantine on return to the UK

Tourists travelling from Italy to the UK no longer need to quarantine

Initially one of the worst affected countries by coronavirus, Italy has been unlocking its tourism industry since early June.

And UK travellers can currently visit the popular tourist destination without needing to quarantine.

The Foreign & Commonwealth Office currently advises British nationals against all but essential international travel, but travel to some countries and territories, including Italy, is currently exempted.

Italy has allowed unrestricted travel from the United Kingdom to the country including for tourism since June 3.

Strict physical distancing rules remain in place, however.

You should also complete a self-declaration form before you travel to Italy.

What are Italy’s coronavirus rules?

Here’s the latest on physical distancing in Italy

- social distancing of 1 metre must be observed

- using masks remains mandatory in enclosed public spaces (and in all public spaces in Lombardy and Piedmont)

- parks have reopened and outdoor exercise is permitted, subject to social distancing

- restaurants, pubs, bars, shops, hairdressers, salons and beaches have been given permission to open, as have libraries. All must have measures in place to enforce social distancing

- museums and archeological sites have been given permission to open. Entry must be prebooked online

- travel between Italian regions is permitted

- schools are expected to remain closed until September

Is it possible to book flights and hotels to Italy?

It’s possible to book hotels, airbnbs and more in Italy.

Wizz Air, Ryanair, EasyJet and British Airways are among the airlines currently running flights from the UK to Italy.
