Inspectors slam hospital ‘odours’

Inspectors found a toiletry product that was “visibly contaminated with body fluids” during a visit to a private hospital.

Healthcare Improvement Scotland also said there were “unpleasant odours” in parts of the Murdostoun Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre in Newmains, Wishaw, and “visible contamination on some surfaces, such as radiators in shower rooms”.

Inspectors said the area around the hydrotherapy pool was “not clean” and was “cluttered with various items of equipment and inappropriate items”.

Healthcare Improvement Scotland, which was set up in April, performs inspections of independent healthcare services.
