UK Vaccines Taskforce chair Kate Bingham announced as keynote speaker at The Scotsman’s Life Sciences conference

The Scotsman Life Sciences conference on Thursday will feature Kate Bingham, Chair of the UK Vaccines Taskforce, as the keynote speaker, it has been announced.

Bingham will describe to an audience of 500 industry professionals the work of the taskforce in selecting and securing the supply of a range of vaccines designed to tackle the Covid-19 virus in different ways.

This will include the role of Stirling-based Symbiosis Pharmaceutical Services in the sterile manufacture of the Astra Zeneca vaccine for clinical trials and Livingston-based Valneva’s development of one of the key vaccines within the UK programme.

She will explain the rationale behind securing supply of a range of different vaccines including the practical considerations of distributing to large populations and how critical patient recruitment was for the clinical trials.

The host of the conference and member of the Life Sciences Industry Leadership Group, Alix Mackay said: “It will be a great privilege to welcome Kate Bingham to this year’s Life Sciences conference and to provide an audience of industry professionals with the opportunity to hear the UK vaccines strategy from the perspective of the people at the heart of it.
