Scammer dresses up as nurse to con elderly homeowner in Lanarkshire
The nurse scam was described as ‘unusual’ by the police.
The homeowner who is reported as ‘elderly’ said no to the scammer when asked about carers.
The con-woman in question then proceeded to offer garden work to elderly homeowner which was also refused.

Hide AdHowever, police reported that males later attended asking to carry out garden work and took over £2,000 from the homeowner but did not carry out any work.
Lanarkshire Police tweeted: “We've become aware of a bogus caller scam with an unusual method.
“A female, dressed as a carer/nurse, as attended a home and asked the elderly homeowner if they had carers due. The answer was no.
“Garden work was then offered, which was also refused.
“Males have later attended asking to carry out garden work and taken over £2,000 from the homeowner but not carried out any work.”
The news of the scam incident comes after several scam door- to-door attempts have been reported during lockdown in Scotland.
Lanarkshire police added: “We are urging people to be vigilant, check ID's & be cautious about handing over money for work which was not pre-arranged.
“Check the work is complete BEFORE paying. Elderly people can be pressured into giving money. Please look out for neighbours, friends & relatives.”
The scam alert tweet was shared across several police division pages such as East Kilbride, Rutherglen and Cambuslang Police.
