'People know where they live': Jason Leitch asks people to be patient and keep following Scottish guidelines

Scotland’s National Clinical Director appeared on BBC’s Breakfast to ask people to continue to follow Scotland’s coronavirus guidelines.

In response to the opening statement on differences between the four nations rules, Professor Leitch said: “People know where they live."

He went on to ask people to stay in their homes as much as possible.

"The greatest protection against the virus is your front door.

"It sounds horrible doesn’t it?

“I can’t believe we’re on..still talking about staying at home in January

“It’s 11 months since I was first on this programme talking about this pandemic.

“So, we’ve got to be patient.

“There is a better news story coming, and that’s vaccination.

“Stay within the rules and we’ll get out faster.”

He clarified that meeting someone for coffee outside was not essential, adding that people have to “use their common sense.”

"People are smart, people are clever,” he said.

He also added that new rules on constructions and click and collect could be on the way.
