The First Minister has announced that shielded people will no longer have to follow separate advice from August 1.

She said that from August 1, shielded people will follow the same guidelines as the general population, and no longer have specific advice.

Ms Sturgeon did urge caution to shielded people and encouraged them to be extra vigilant with mask wearing and hand washing.

It was also announced today that schools will definitely reopen on August 11, with local authorities potentially allowing a phased return, though the government expects all pupils to be back, full time by August 18.

Apart from these changes, the country will remain in phase three, as Ms Sturgeon said that the government is ‘not satisfied’ that coronavirus is no longer a threat to public health and therefore will not be introducing phase four.

The country has seen no recorded deaths from coronavirus for two weeks.
