Author JK Rowling has shown her support for the short lived Civil Service tweet calling the UK government ‘arrogant’ by saying that she wants to give the author a years salary.

The Civil Service tweet appeared about 10 minutes after Boris Johnston finished his press conference where he put his full support behind controversial PM advisor Dominic Cummings.

Mr Cummings was reported to have made a trip from London to Durham with his wife and child after his wife became symptomatic with coronavirus in an alleged breach of lockdown.

The Prime Minister has come out in support of his chief advisor, despite calls from within his own party, as well as from the SNP for resignation, saying that Mr Cummings “acted responsibly, legally and with integrity.”

The Civil Service tweet read: “Arrogant and offensive. Can you imagine having to work with these truth twisters.”

It was deleted shortly after with the Cabinet Office saying: “An unauthorised tweet was posted on a government channel this evening.

“The post has been removed and we are investigating the matter.”

The Harry Potter author isn’t the only celebrity supporting the anonymous tweeter, with Gary Lineker answering the Cabinet Office with: “An unauthorised journey was taken by a government adviser.

“The advisor will not be removed and we are not investigating the matter.”

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has also condemned Boris Johnson, claiming that the PM has put political interest first and threatens to undermine the UK’s public health message.

Ms Sturgeon also accused the UK government of trying to “retrofit the guidance” after they claimed that Mr Cummings actions were not in breach of the lockdown rules.
