Describing the role, NHS Scotland said mobile testing unit operators are needed “across the entirety of Scotland including remote, rural and island communities, in order to meet the immediate needs of the Scottish Government Test and Protect programme.”

Operatives distribute Covid-19 self-test kits and provide information to the public on how to self-test.

NHS Scotland said it is looking for applicants who can “use tact and persuasive

communication skills” when dealing with members of the public who may be “distressed, upset, or angry.”

“Some may become unwell and staff will be required to safely manage them or identify the need for additional professional assistance,” according to the job description.

Operators are also frequently required to “exert moderate physical effort”, including standing for long periods of time in extremes of weather for several periods during a typical 10 hour shift.
