The conference was due to be held at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) on Thursday, hosting more than 80 exhibitors and 800 events.

Based on advice from the UK and Scottish governments and the World Health Organisation, organisers have pushed the showcase – now in its fifth year – back to 25 September.

Events director Judith Wilson said: “We know this will come as a huge disappointment. It is not a decision we have taken lightly.

“Our primary concern is, and always has been, the health and safety of our attendees and staff. We also feel an immense responsibility towards our exhibitors and partners.”

This comes amid a wave of event cancellations as the UK government recommends that people limit all “non-essential” contact with others to delay the spread of Covid-19.
