Here are the 12 areas in Scotland with the highest coronavirus rates ahead of the introduction of vaccine passports later this week.

The data breaks down the number of positive Covid-19 cases per 100,000 people, according to council area.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon is due to address Parliament on Tuesday to give an update on the coronavirus pandemic.

The update comes as vaccine passports, which will be required to get into venues such as nightclubs, are due to come into force at 5am on October 1.

Here are the 12 areas in Scotland with the most new coronavirus cases between September 18 and 24.

1. West Dunbartonshire

West Dunbartonshire recorded 567 positive cases in the last seven days, this was a rate of 641.8 cases per 100,000 people. Photo: Google

East Ayrshire recorded 754 new cases last week. This was a rate of 620.1 cases per 100,000 people. Photo: Google
