Coronavirus in Scotland: What time will Nicola Sturgeon announce the new lockdown levels today, and what will she say?

The First Minister will be addressing parliament today to announce any changes made to the lockdown levels across the country.

What is Scotland’s local coronavirus lockdown level system?

There are five levels in Scotland, ranging from zero to four and each increase in level sees tighter restrictions put in place.

Each week, the Scottish Government review the number of cases of coronavirus in each region and assign a relevant level.

There are travel restrictions in place to stop people from travelling between regions with different levels in order to stem the spread of the virus.

When is Nicola Sturgeon due to speak?

The First Minister is due to address Parliament at around 2.15pm on Tuesday, December 1, although there is a chance that it is delayed by a few minutes if Parliamentary business over runs.

What will Nicola Sturgeon say?

The First Minister always starts her update with the latest coronavirus statistics, announcing the latest number of positive cases, patients in hospital, patients in intensive care, and the number of registered deaths from people who have tested positive.

Final decisions on which region will move up or down is made by the Cabinet on Tuesday morning, but as it stands it is not likely there will be any change.

The one region that is on the edge is Midlothian, which last week was hoping to be moved down to tier two but last minute was kept in three due to unstable case numbers.It

The Scottish Government last week announced it’s plans for loosening the restrictions across the country over the festive period.

The travel restrictions will be temporarily halted and certain households will be allowed to mix indoors.
