Coronavirus in Scotland: three new deaths as Covid-19 cases rise by 668 in the last 24 hours

Three more deaths have been reported and 668 new cases confirmed in the last 24 hours, according to the Scottish Government.

Of these, 244 were in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, 166 in the Lothians, and 123 in Lanarkshire.

The figures were announced during First Minister’s daily briefing during which she confirmed 154 people are being treated in hospital with the virus, 15 more than were reported yesterday, and 17 patients are in intensive care.

Nicola Sturgeon confirmed the R number – the average number of secondary infections produced by a single infected person – is possible as high as 1.7 at the moment.
