Coronavirus in Scotland: Positive cases confirmed on the Isle of Lewis

Three residents have tested positive for coronavirus on the Isle of Lewis.

NHS Western Isles have confirmed the three patients are self isolating in their homes.

They have also stated that appropriate steps in terms of the Test and Protect guidance and support are fully underway.

NHS Western Isles Chief Executive Gordon Jamieson, said: “We would like to reassure our local communities and visitors to the island that we are taking all necessary steps to contact trace, and contain the virus but it is vital that everyone in the Western Isles re double their efforts and follows the current Scottish Government restrictions and FACTS guidance to limit any spread of the virus.”

Thursday saw 1,712 new cases recorded across Scotland.

Of those new positive cases, 584 cases were in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, 457 in Lanarkshire, 192 in Lothian and 151 in Ayrshire and Arran.

The remaining were spread across the nine other health boards.

Tragically 17 people died after testing positive.
