Coronavirus in Scotland: Nicola Sturgeon postpones discussions of nation entering next phase lockdown exit

The First Minister confirmed her announcement on changes made to the country’s lockdown strategy have been delayed.

Nicola Sturgeon said discussions about the route map, which were due to take place on October 5, have been postponed until October 15.

Her announcement comes as the Scottish Government revealed three deaths and 668 new cases have been reported in the last 24 hours.

Of those, 244 are in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, 166 in the Lothians and 123 in Lanarkshire.

The others have been reported from health boards across the country.

As of today, 154 people are currently being treated in hospital with the virus, 15 more than were reported yesterday, and 17 patients are in intensive care.

Nicola Sturgeon confirmed the R number – the average number of secondary infections produced by a single infected person – is possible as high as 1.7 at the moment.
