There have been 934 new cases of coronavirus reported in the last 24 hours.
The government added that an issue with data transfer from NHS Grampian and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde may have affected the testing figures.
The high increase in cases from yesterday (572) may be due to a “catch up of a backlog of data.”
1,061 patients are in hospital with 58 patients in intensive care.
Three deaths have been registered of people who tested positive with the virus.
It should be noted that Register Offices are generally closed at the weekend.
The First Minister announced yesterday that due to a new strain of Covid, restrictions for Christmas would be altered.
People are now only allowed to meet up to two other households indoors – with a maximum of eight people – for Christmas day only.
