Coronavirus in Scotland: 895 new cases confirmed as the country records 48 deaths

A total of 895 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours as Scotland records 48 new deaths.

The latest figures, released on Saturday, reveal 1,729 people are in hospital having recently tested positive for the virus while 117 people are being treated in intensive care with recently confirmed Covid-19.

The Scottish Government has confirmed that as of today, 786,427 people have received the first dose of the Covid vaccination and 10,332 have received their second dose.

In a media briefing last week First Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon said the country is “on track” to vaccinate those considered extremely clinically vulnerable and the over 70s by mid-February.
