Coronavirus in Scotland: 83 new cases confirmed as death toll rises to 14

Scotland’s total has now reached 499 cases as the death toll climbs to 14.

The new figures show 83 new tests have come back positive in the last 24 hours, according to the Scottish Government.

Greater Glasgow and Clyde remains the worst affected part of the country with 152 cases.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said life “should not feel normal right now” as cases across the country are expected to “rise sharply” and social distancing measures are put in place.

About 200,000 Scots most at risk from Coronavirus are to be contacted in the coming days and told to self-isolate at home for up to three months.
