Coronavirus in Scotland: 28 new deaths recorded in last 24 hours as 1,739 new positive cases confirmed

A total of 28 new Covid-19 related deaths have been recorded in the last 24 hours which is the highest recorded number since May 21.

The First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said that 1,739 new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in the last 24 hours.

Of these cases, 605 are in Great Glasgow and Clyde, 520 in Lanarkshire, 250 in the Lothians and 105 in Ayrshire and Arran.

873 people are currently being treated in hospital with coronavirus, an increase of 49 people from figures yesterday.

73 people are in intensive care which is an increase of three from the day before.

So far, 50,903 people have tested positive for coronavirus across the country.

In Scotland, in total 2,653 people have died from coronavirus.
