Coronavirus in Scotland RECAP: Five Covid-19-linked deaths in the last week, says NRS

Latest figures show lowest weekly total for deaths involving Covid-19 since the first death was recorded in early March.

A total of 4,213 people have died in Scotland with confirmed or suspected coronavirus, according to the latest figures published by the National Records of Scotland (NRS).

Five deaths relating to Covid-19 were registered between August 3 and August 9, down two on the previous week.

This is the lowest weekly total for deaths involving Covid-19 since the first death was recorded in early March.

The statistics are published weekly and account for all deaths registered in Scotland where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

They differ from the lab-confirmed coronavirus deaths announced daily by the Scottish Government because they include suspected or probable cases of Covid-19.
