Coronavirus in Scotland LIVE: Nicola Sturgeon makes a special plea for people not to travel

The First Minister has announced that face masks may become mandatory in Scotland if anecdotal evidence suggests that people are not wearing them voluntarily in shops or on public transport.

The Scottish Government statistics show that 15,582 people have tested positive, and 2,409 people have died from Covid-19.

These numbers represent the people who have officially tested positive for coronavirus, where as the National Records of Scotland release numbers of people who have coronavirus mentioned on the death certificate.

The NRS has recorded almost 4,000 deaths due to the virus.
