Coronavirus in Scotland: 1,989 people are in hospital with the virus as 71 more people have died in the last 24 hours

The Scottish Government has released the daily coronavirus figures and in the last 24 hours Scotland has recorded the highest figure to date of people being treated in hospital with the virus, 1,989.

In total, 1,165 people have tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.

150 people are currently in intensive care, which is an increase of four people from the figure reported yesterday.

To date, 284,582 people have received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination, and 3,886 people have received their second dose.

71 people died in the last 24 hours, which takes the death toll in Scotland since the start of the pandemic last year to 5,376.

In total, 13,193 coronavirus tests were carried out in Scotland that reported results and of those, 11.1 percent were positive.

164,927 people have tested positive since the start of the pandemic.
