Coronavirus death toll in Scotland reaches 126 rising by 50

The First Minister confirms the latest numbers at this afternoon’s briefing.

The number of patients in Scotland to have died after testing positive for coronavirus now stands at 126, rising by 50 since yesterday.

Nicola Sturgeon explained that the large jump was due to the fact that 40 patients had not been announced on earlier days due to a hold up with family liaisons, and therefore are only being added to the official statistics now.

The total number of confirmed cases in Scotland has also risen by 292 since yesterday which makes a total of 2,602 patients who have tested positive for the virus.
