SPRING is here, and the time has come to revitalise your post-winter skin in preparation for the holiday season.

When it comes to beautifying procedures, I’m more inclined to slap on a mud mask than to book a pricey ‘wonder facial’, but as summer approaches, something a little more substantial is required to refresh a pale and dull complexion.

Destination Skin, an award-winning medispa situated in the basement of Frasers in Glasgow, specialises in non-surgical anti-ageing and restorative skin treatments.

I arrive at the clinic unsure of which treatment to choose, but a friendly and efficient skin consultant examines me and recommends the AGERA Vitamin C Peel, an entry level peel to improve texture and tone.

The treatment room is a glossy white haven, filled with tranquil music. The procedure begins with a thorough cleansing of the skin before the peel is applied. The consultant massages my face, putting me at ease by giving a step by step commentary of each stage. She explains that I may feel a slight tingling as she brushes on the peel, but I hardly feel a thing before a refreshing layer of cool, wet gauze is applied to activate the solution. After some time, the gauze is removed and an invigorating anti-oxidant serum is applied to finish the procedure.

The treatment lasts for approximately 30 minutes. It’s blissfully relaxing and the results are instant - silky smooth, glowing skin and barely an open pore in sight. I’m told to expect mild redness for a couple of hours afterwards but my complexion is clear and radiant - ready for the sun’s unforgiving light.
