Glasgow Warriors sign Scotland Six Nations prop from Edinburgh
The 30-year-old will make the move to Scotstoun in the summer following six seasons in the capital.
Berghan is part of Gregor Townsend’s 2021 Six Nations squad but was not involved in the match-day 23 for Saturday’s stunning win over England at Twickenham.

Hide AdHe has been capped 28 times by Scotland and is well known to Glasgow coach Danny Wilson from the latter’s previous role with the national side.
“Adding a player of Simon’s calibre to our pack is a massive boost for us going into the 2021-22 season,” Wilson said. “He’s a proven performer at both club and international level, and his work ethic will make him a valuable asset to our front-row.
“I’ve worked with Simon previously in Scotland camps, he’s a very athletic tighthead prop and he’s got a wealth of experience that will also benefit our young front-rowers.”
Berghan joins a pack that also includes the recently re-signed Scott Cummings and Tom Gordon, as well as fellow incoming arrival Jamie Bhatti, the loosehead prop who left Edinburgh earlier this season to sign a short-term deal with Bath.
Born in Christchurch but Scottish-qualified by virtue of his Stirling-born grandfather, Berghan has made 89 appearances for Edinburgh.
He made his international debut against France in 2017 and his last cap came in the defeat by France in the Autumn Nations Cup last November.
“Danny [Wilson] gave me a call and outlined what he’s looking to build at Scotstoun over the next few years, and it sounds like a really exciting time to get involved with the club,” Berghan told glasgowwarriors.org.
“The quality of the front-row players at Glasgow is unreal; with Jamie [Bhatti] coming back to Scotland next season too, you can make two, nearly three, front-rows full of international players. There’s going to be a lot of competition for places and a challenge I’m looking forward to. It’s an exciting prospect, and I want to put my best foot forward and show what I’m all about.”
