The Inter Miami winger has not played for his country for three years since winning his only two caps.

He was in line for a call-up for Scotland s Nations League games against Israel and Czech Republic in September, but the coronavirus pandemic stopped him from joining.

Quarantine rules meant he could have missed up to eight games for Miami, but the 24-year-old is focused on reigniting his international career.

"Playing for your national team is the biggest honour a player can have and it's definitely a goal I have to force myself back into that set-up," said Morgan. "I know I'm more than capable of doing it.

"Last year was difficult, I was going to be involved in one of the camps but with travel and Covid restrictions it wasn't viable, logistically. Johnny Russell at Sporting Kansas was in a similar position.

"Since then it's been the same script. It's not been ideal for players out here and with us being out of season it meant, for the last (World Cup) qualifiers, I wasn't really going to be involved because there hasn't been much game time for us.

"Going forward from now I'm going to be in the season so I need to perform every single week for Miami."

Morgan was voted Miami's MVP in his debut MLS season last term after joining from Celtic and is preparing for Sunday's opener against LA Galaxy.

He scored five goals in 25 appearances and now, under Phil Neville, believes Inter can improve after finishing 10th in the Eastern Conference and 19th overall in their first campaign.

He said: "I don't think anyone could say they were at their best last year - I include myself in that - we all recognise that and we all want to put it right. We are all motivated.

"The manager is very hands on, him and his staff are very detailed, they are very clear and have an identity of how they want to play. It leaves us in no doubt what is expected of us."
