Queen of the South secured a third consecutive win when they came from behind to triumph 2-1 at Morton thanks to Callum Fordyce’s goal.

The Greenock side opened the scoring after seven minutes when Gary Harkins rolled home a penalty after Jason Kerr had tripped Bob McHugh as the striker chased a long ball from Ricki Lamie..

The leveller arrived two minutes from the break when John Rankin lofted the ball forward and when Darren Brownlie nodded it down Stephen Dobbie applied a fine first-time finish.

It got even better for Queen’s within two minutes of the second half starting when Callum Fordyce fired home at the second attempt after a long throw in from James McFadden. Then Morton survived a penalty shout when a Dobbie cut-back was blocked with an arm.

McHugh almost equalised with a turn and shot that flashed wide with Dobbie going close to a third for the visitors with shot that came back off the bar.
