Youngsters have got the write stuff

ACTRESS Daniela Nardini, author Denise Mina and film director Annie Griffin will take to the red carpet tomorrow to honour the children and international scholars who have triumphed in a unique literary prize.

Edinburgh's Botanic Gardens will be themed as Fellini's Rome for a day of events, culminating in a Dolce Vita party at which the Edinburgh Gadda Prizes will be conferred on international scholars and local school children.

The pupils have competed in a competition to discover talent in the area of crime writing.

More than 100 youngsters entered manuscripts, the only requirement being that the crime fiction had to be set in Rome.

Daniela Nardini will read extracts from the successful entrants at the awards ceremony and the youngsters will be coached in a unique workshop led by crime author Denise Mina and Bafta winner Annie Griffin.
