School hit by vomiting bug set to reopen

A SCHOOL which was struck by norovirus was set to reopen today.

Balgreen Primary was closed on Monday and Tuesday to allow for a deep clean of the building in a bid to eradicate germs.

It was the third attempt made over the past two weeks by school bosses struggling to curb the spread of the vomiting and diarrhoea bug.

More than 120 pupils and staff have been struck down by the bug over the course of the outbreak.

The school has had to cancel trips to the pantomime, as well as its own nativity plays, carol concerts and Christmas parties following advice from NHS Lothians to avoid any events which would lead to “large gatherings”.

Staff have been trying to come up with innovative ways to inject a bit of Christmas spirit into the school, such as filming the nativity play so that parents can watch it on a DVD.
