Robert Gordon’s College unveil science centre plan

ONE of Aberdeen’s leading independent schools today announced plans for a new Science and Technology Centre at the school.

Robert Gordon’s College is planning to establish 34 state-of-the-art laboratories and a new PerformingArts Centre at the city centre school.

A school spokeswoman said: “On completion this will be the largest school teaching facility for Science and Technology in the UK, further enhancing the school’s current classroom strengths in research, experimental work and technology and design. The Science and Technology Centre will also be a UK showcase school for tomorrow’s science and computing equipment.

“A significant financial investment will see Robert Gordon’s College working with Kier Construction to produce this large city centre development as they enhance the accommodation on the Schoolhill campus using existing buildings onsite. “

Hugh Ouston, the head of college said: “We believe the school has an important role to play in the continuing development of Aberdeen City Centre and the success of the local economy. To achieve our vision we are committed to investing in our pupils because it is they who will have to solve the challenges of the future.”

He added: “We will also recreate the historic spaciousness of the Quadrangle as we further enhance the social space for pupils, teachers and visitors.”
