Fire scholar at Gordonstoun

A SCHOOLBOY with an unusual qualification has been awarded a scholarship by one of the country’s top boarding schools.

Hamilton Burr, 16, was chosen to study at Gordonstoun School because he is the son of a fire fighter with Grampian Fire and Rescue Service.

He applied to be the first Bob Boyd/Grampian Fire and Rescue Scholar after his father Fraser showed him an advert for it in the Christmas edition of the service’s magazine last year.

Now Hamilton is attending sixth form classes at the school at Elgin, Moray, and is a recruit in the school’s own fire service. It is the only one of its kind in the UK and an official part of Grampian Fire and Rescue Service.
