Double trouble as nine sets of twins start school

THERE will be double the fun at schools in West Dunbartonshire today with teachers set to welcome nine sets of twins into P1.

The 18 children are starting P1 at nine different schools across the area this morning.

They include four-year-olds Ryan and Darren Stewart who will be welcomed into Clydemuir Primary in Dalmuir and Ava and Jack Lees, also 4, who will be starting P1 at Bonhill 
Primary.

Ryan and Darren’s mother Stacey Scot: said: “They can’t wait to start school, and I’m looking forward to it as well! They talk about it all the time I just can’t believe it’s this week. I know they’ll be fine and they’ve got each other.”

Sheona Lees, mum to Ava and Jack, said the four-year-olds had come a long way since they were born ten weeks premature in November 2010 and had to spend nine weeks in hospital.

Sheona said: “I think me and their dad will be emotional on Monday when they’re starting because it’s such a big step but I know they’re more than ready. They go everywhere together and at nursery they always played with each other so they’ll be the same at school.”

Councillor Michelle McGinty, convener of educational services, said: “There will may be a few tears at the school gates but all the parents can be reassured that all of our staff will be on hand.”
