The group has represented Greenfaulds High and North Lanarkshire Council at several national educational events, performed for the Deputy First Minister, were showcased at the NLC Learning Festival, and the first ever Live at the Loch festival.

Shannon (17) is nominated in the Young Hero Category. After falling pregnant at 14, Shannon was inspired by her daughter to excel at school and university.

She has overcome adversity and has succeeded in juggling motherhood, school, a part time job and volunteering at a soup kitchen to raise funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Earlier this year Shannon was awarded the Scottish Schools’ Young Writer of the Year by penning a powerful essay about the struggles and joys of becoming a teenage mum.

The annual awards ceremony will be hosted by comedian Iain Stirling in the Scottish Event Campus (SEC), Glasgow, on November 30 – for tickets and further information visit youngscotawards.com.
