Lonely Scotland was set up last year by Laura Smith to help the people across the country that suffer from loneliness.

She said: “It’s something almost everyone will experience in their life and there is just not enough information and help out there to show people they are not alone.”

Lonely Scotland has organised a coffee morning on Sunday, May 6, from 9.30-11.30am in The Craigmarloch Lodge, Cumbernauld.

Laura said: “We’ve been blown away with the support we have gained in such a short time, but as we are a very small group we are starting small and arranged our first coffee morning in Cumbernauld.

“We understand not everyone will be able to attend, but we urge anyone with a little spare time to come to our coffee morning and have a chat.

“Talking is such a small thing to do and is sometimes taken for granted. For someone feeling lonely something as small as a smile walking down the street or talking over a cuppa can truly makes a difference.

“This is a free event for all ages and we encourage home baking, but there’s no pressure.”

Laura posted her own video blog about my own experience with loneliness on the charity’s Facebook page which she hopes will help other people.
