Apple of the school’s eye

PUPILS from Dirleton Primary School have helped create a community orchard as part of the school’s centenary celebrations.

Farmer Bob Simpson at Castle Mains Farm agreed to divide one of his fields to establish the fruit garden, which can also be used by the school as an al fresco classroom.

Headteacher Sarah Ogden said: “We will be planting a hedge around the new orchard to separate it from the rest of the field. ”
